Fuzhou Lakeside International School operates education for students in Grades K-12. FLIS teaching staff work closely with all Program administrators based on the FLIS leadership organization chart. Teachers report directly to either Program Coordinators (PYPC) or the Program Director (Director of Primary), and work directly with Subject Coordinators/Lead Teachers to meet Program goals.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum:
- Teach assigned grade, homeroom and/or subject classes to assigned FLIS students.
- Plan Units of Inquiry and lessons following FLIS curriculum framework, integrating Science, Math, Art, Social Studies, Social-Emotional Learning, Music and Dance.
- Design, prepare and deliver high quality lessons to suit individual needs of all students in line with FLIS curricular standards.
- Prepare innovative educational resources for all classes prior to school commencement.
- Complete all unit plans at least 2 weeks prior to implementation, including necessary materials for instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
Assessment & Student Progress:
- Assess and monitor student progress and provide targets so that all learners can see success and improve.
- Test student mastery levels with appropriate assessments and set progress goals according to FLIS policy.
- Schedule and organize student assessments, marking, feedback and education plans utilizing both Formative and Summative Assessment strategies.
- Arrange for critical assessment related to students.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain order and discipline amongst students through implementation of appropriate teaching and class management strategies.
- Ensure students are aware of and follow behavioral agreements.
- Create a positive, stimulating, academic, and safe learning environment.
- Ensure classrooms, furnishings, resources, and equipment are respected and valued by students.
- Keep general tidiness of classroom and activity areas.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with Curriculum Coordinator, Specialist teachers, and Learning Support team.
- Participate actively in collaborative planning times to ensure students receive balanced, well-constructed curriculum.
- Confer with other teachers on academic level of students and class designations.
- Use appropriate, positive and constructive communication with parents and stakeholders.
- Contribute to parental conferences, meetings and workshops to improve student development.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in activities and/or excursions with students at House, Year-level, subject, Program, and School levels.
- Provide emergency cover for various classes as directed.
- All Primary staff are required to be House teachers and may be assigned as House Lead Teacher if necessary.
- Adhere to Child Protection legislation requirements.
- Uphold the principles set by FLIS and maintain professional manner at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Hold an appropriate university degree in English or equivalent teaching certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant teaching experience. Better qualified candidates will have at least 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
- Teaching License: Valid teaching license from a national/local education governing body preferred.
- Language: English language proficiency required in all situations.
- Communication Skills: Effective communicator and self-starter, able to liaise with Principal, FLIS Staff and other organizational bodies.
- Leadership: Able to lead outside or in-class activities and be proactive in approaching all situations.
- Cultural Openness: Cultural openness and ability to work in an international environment.
- Child Protection: Understanding of Child Protection legislation and its consistent implementation.
- Background Check: Able to provide valid background check and references.
- Passion: Enjoy interacting with children and experiencing different events.
